In January, Microsoft announced that it wanted to take over Activision Blizzard. After it has recently become a little quieter around the deal, the next level seems to have been reached on the way to finalization of the gigantic takeover.
Because as Activision Blizzard announced in a statement, the company’s shareholders have agreed to a sale. And with a clear majority, because more than 98 percent of the shareholder gave her ‘Go’.
Nevertheless, the takeover is not yet in dry towels. This also requires the approval of the American antal Trade Commission (FTC). Among other things, it includes ensuring a fair competition in markets, a veto of the authority could still burst the deal. And that is not completely unlikely, especially since the current chairman Lina Khan is considered a hardliner.
Even if other institutions have to agree, Microsoft and Activision continue to assume that the takeover will take place by the end of Microsoft’s current fiscal year, i.e. until June 30, 2023.
deal announcement ensured a quake in the industry
Microsoft’s declaration of purchase was the first big bang for the industry in 2022, especially because of the huge dimensions. Because in the video game industry, the deal would be by far the greatest takeover of history – with a total volume of almost 70 billion dollars.
If the merger arises, the Microsoft Game Studios would be richer in one fell swoop by nine new entries and a whole heron of well -known and popular brands. You can find exactly which these are in this article:

What exactly will happen to the Studios of Activision Blizzard under Microsoft is not yet 100 % clear. Closures will very likely not or at most in individual cases.
At least when taking Bethesda, Microsoft had not changed anything at the basic course studios. On the other hand, it should be clear that numerous activision games would hike into the Game Pass in a successful takeover, including the Call of Duty series.
