Zverev missed title in Montpellier
ZVEREV lost on Sunday in the final against the Kazakh Alexander Bulk with 4: 6, 3: 6, in the week in France but at least a bit new self-confidence could collect after the frustration of Australia.
But at no time, the 24-year-old was able to build on his previously strong performance at the tournament. On the way to his first final this year, Zverev had just made 13 games and defeated his opponents in the quick passage. The idea of quickly returning to the square thanks to a wildcard and gaining new security into his own games, it seemed very good.
But in the final ZVEREV was tired and made a total of too many mistakes. The support of his girlfriend Sophia Thomalla on the tribune helped nothing. After only 69 minutes, the game was over again.
Tired Zverev praises his opponent
In the first sentence, ZVEREV was able to compare a run loss at the level of 2: 3 quickly. On the 4: 5, however, he gave his service again, so there could be the first round after 37 minutes. Also in the second sentence ZVEREV did not find any means against the constantly well-establishing kasachen. Instead, the German number one conceded to 2: 3 again a break, before he even gave his last impact game to the 3: 6.
“You played very well today and the whole week and are the deserved winner,” Zverev said after the game to Beautiful. “I still had a good time here,” said the number three of the world, which in 2017 in Montpellier had triumphed.
How Zverev’s look for more plans is still unclear. It will probably be playing again at the end of February at the tournament in Mexican Acapulco. Zverev had recovered last year. In March, the two Masters-1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami are on the program.
